| im interested in a aimpoint pro. I know there is already a thread about the aimpoint pro but what i was wondering was which optic is it really like a m2 or m3 or something completely new ? and is it a fairly good deal ? |
| Other than battery life there is no practical difference between an m3 (2moa) and the pro. Battery life is 3 years left on, not quite as much as the m3's 5 years. At $400 with a mount, I think it is the best deal going on a new aimpoint. I like the QRPII mount it comes in and it returns to zero after being removed. I recommend it 100%. |

I was wondering the same thing, you just asked the question first!
How long has the pro been in use? I'm assuming that the pro has been tested well by Aimpoint but has it been in military hand with good reports? I know the M3 is good 2 go, used and abused by the troops. I'm torn between the Pro and an EXPS3. |
|
The PRO is not in use with the military. I don't believe the M3 is either. I've only ever seen/used M2s and M4s.
I'm an AP fanboy however, I find the battery life to be invaluale. The PRO is basically a Comp M3 and all AP models use the same technology and construction. I'd like to try an XPS, but if I had the choice between the 2 I'd get the AP |
| All the mentioned sights (m2, m3, c3, m4, PRO) look pretty much identical when you're looking through them. Same glass clarity, same field of view, and provided you bought a 2 moa version, same dot. Really the only deciding factor here is your preference on batteries. The m4 has a AA battery if you like that. The others all use a DL1/3N. The only differences are the battery life for each sight. I opted for the PRO because 3 years is enough battery life to keep me happy. And the savings I get with the PRO will more than pay for the few extra batteries I'll have to buy in my lifetime. Plus, not only is the PRO the cheapest of the bunch, it also comes with the same QRPII mount as the m4. The m2, m3, and c3 don't come with a mount suitable for an AR, so you have to figure that into your cost. So if you go with the PRO the only thing you really have to worry about is all the other cool kids with the c3's making fun of you when you change your battery every three years, but I'm ok with that. |

Is the qrp2 mount good or should I get larue mount bundle instead ? The QRP has some good qualities. It secures the AP very well, bullet proof, and has a nice feature with the knob that doesn't allow you to over tighten it to your receiver. If you can get over the "look" of the big knob hanging off the side it'll save you $100. |

| I like the QRPII. It is solid and returns to zero just fine. The knob really doesn't bother me at all and it doesn't stick out any farther than my gunfighter charging handle. It may not be a true "QD" but still only takes a few seconds on and off. I don't foresee that ever being a problem as I can use my irons through the Aimpoint should it ever fail. I don't have any desire to change mine at all. |

i was reading through the description on palmetto and saw this in the fine print at the bottom.
Aimpoint Patrol Rifle Optics are intended for use by military and law enforcement only. While no proof is required for purchase please be honest when placing your order for a Patrol Rifle Optic. should i go ahead and order it ? |

That sounds like something your priest/pastor/rabbi/whatever should discuss. I can tell you that there are probably more of these in civilian hands than government/agency hands right now, so it's not like the Aimpoint police are going to come get you in the night or anything. |

EDIT: Also what accessories are worth while ? |
| The only thing I got for mine was the killflash. I mostly use it because it helps protect the front glass and reduces glare a bit, making the dot easier to see on these bright Arizona days. I know the rubber covers will fit, not sure if the double battery kit or spare battery kit will work with these, but I would assume so. |

I love mine. I did change the mount to an ADM mount for lower 1/3 co-witnessing. The pricing I get on ADM stuff made it about half the price of Larue, I just don't see how Larue is that much better. Thats the mount I want to get for mine, any suggestions on where to buy? |
