I have the M4s and have a chance to gewt an M4 at a great price my question is because the batterie compartment sits real high is it more prone to damage or being more fragile than M4s or is it not an issue?

I doubt it will ever be an issue. Those Aimpoints are built to be put through military level abuse, regardless of the location of the battery tube. If you've found a good deal, I'd snag it.

Some prefer it over the M4S because they can change the brightness setting with their left hand.  Others like the M4s better because the adjustment is lower and doesn't block your field of view as much.  I chose the later.  Try to look through one if you can before you make your mind up.  Otherwise, I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Im gonna grab it for $575 with the larue mount cant let it go.I do like the idea though of being able to switch it on with my left hand as im holding the rifle.I love my M4s with a lower profile but maybe ill just put it on the wifes rifle depending on wich one suits me better..thanks all

M4's battery compartment is at the same height as the M3 version - you ever see them break?  I don't think so.  You will also be glad that you get M4 instead of M4S once you get your NVG.

No issues with an AIMPOINT -  here's the M4s.
