I'm in the market for a budget magnifier to use with my EOTech 516. The magnifier will no be for combat purposes, but specifically to use for coyote and hog shooting. I'm sure the EOTech magnifier is much better, but honestly, I don't need a $500 magnifier for shootings pests.

Is ther any better option than the Vortex in the price range? Also, I need a mount that will clear my ARMS #40, and will be high enough for the raised base of the 516. I don't  want a flip mount as it will only be used occasionly and will not be staying on my fighting gun.

Here is video that show the Vortex 3x with a mount that I really
like.  I really like the Vortex 3x
magnifier for the price.

the magnifier is really nice but the swing mount is to low for the 516 you would have to get the higher swing mount from american defense

I really don't want a swing mount. I'd prefer just an easily removable straight mount.

Mine works great, same purpose. I use it on my pig rig behind a XPS-2, I love it. Mine is on a QD, so I take it off and drop it into a pouch if I get into thick brush or just want 1x. Also, it clears my Troy BUIS.

Cool. What QD mount are you using?

Primary Arms. It works ok, but if I were to do it over again I would consider going with a fts on a QD. It would be nice, but not necessary.

As it is, I just keep an extra little pouch on my war belt that I can drop the magnifier into.

FYI, check out AIM in the industry section, I think I saw that they have a coupon code for a few bucks off the Vortex magnifier....
