I'm going to be purchasing a precision upper for shooting coyotes/pigs/prairie dogs, and will be adding some glass obviously. I'm ENTIRELY out of the loop on magnified glass so I could use some advice on where to begin. I'd really like to stay under $800, and I'd like to have the zoom range from 4x(give or take) to 20x(give or take).

Thanks guys!

I have a precision rifle with a 6x18 nikon with mildots , target turrets and side focus I also have a bushmaster 20 inch v-match topped with a weaver 3x10x40 tactical , it is a  mil dot scope with mil/mil resetable target turrets . when it comes time to go after varmints I reach for the bushmaster because animals dont hold still while your trying to adjust parallax the weaver has the parallax set at 100 yds. also the 3x low end really helps when a coyote comes busting out of the brush at 50 yds and 10 power will get you out to 600 yds easy enough which is way to far to be shooting at coyotes and pigs any way . midway has the weaver as an exclusive and I think right now its on sale for 299.

ps rfutch will be along shortly to reccomend the weaver scope but I beat him to the punch

I recommend looking at the Vortex PST line.  We have gotten really good feedback on
them.  I’m going to be getting a few for
myself in really soon.

Here is a link to them.

The Weaver Tactical scopes are nice but I like the Vortex PST more.  We have a few of the Weaver's in stock, we need to get them added to our website.

I have a predator pursuit I use for long range stuff and I went with the nikon monarch 4x16 mil dot scope. It is the brightest high powered scope I've ever used and has very clear optics, and very stable zero throughout its mag range. I have nothing negative to say about it at all and best news is it is way under your budget which means you will have plenty of money left over for match ammo! I'm sure there are nicer scopes out there but the nikon is all I need.

Check out CamerlandNY. They have some really good prices on their optics. I've bought from them several times and they're a good outfit. My last purchase was a Minox demo and I love it. The phone rep said Zeiss and Minox both use Schott optic glass. If you email me I'll forward the latest email specials on Minox "open box" scopes. For now check this out.
