What would be a good spotting scope for realitively low cost? (lets say $150 - $300)
Looking for alot of zoom since my eyes suck and good clarity. It is mostly going to be used to zero at 100yards but I have the option at the range I started going to, to shoot to 300yards at some point. (i can barely make out the holes with a x4 at 100 yards.) Hopefully something with a tripod or that can take one. Thanks for any help! |

What works well for you at 100 yards is going to be a lot harder to fulfill at 300 yards at a low cost.
Most low-cost optics are Chinese now a days and are not very good beyond 100 yards. I had a Sibir 20-50x50 spotting scope that was very good for the money if you can find a used one. The downside was it had a very short eye relief and was straight-through, not an angled eyepiece. But, if you're shooting from a bench, that shouldn't be a problem. But, on the upside, it had very good clarity for the cost. Seeing holes at 300 yards can be difficult sometimes even with a good scope. If you have purchased from CMP before, they have a fixed-power Kowa for less than $300 that would certainly work at 100 yards. A fixed power will be brighter and Kowa is well known. You may just have to save a little longer and go for something a little better. |

I wanted to say, thank you everyone for your suggestions.
I have gone with a Konus scope. I was able to locate one for $219! It should be arriving tomorrow and I will get to test it out Friday I have read nothing but stellar reviews everywhere after it was suggested here. I scoured the internet and all I could find were articles / reviews with people loving it ! |
