Anyone with first hand experience?  Opinions on bang for the buck?  I would like to try one on a 14.5" AR10.

I have never shot a rifle that had one on it, but they are huge compared to the 4x models. Personally I would get a 1-6x or more variable scope. That's just me though.

One day while at the range a guy had a few on his AR15s and AR10 type rifles. I asked him if I could take a look through a couple and he said go ahead and take a few shots. I was impressed with the quality of the glass and he seemed to be very happy. He had 6 total. Personally I think I would rather have a variable powered for the .308, but I'm sure the ACOG would be sufficient for 600-800 yards. The BDC seemed to be perfect for the loads he was using with a 20" barrel. I was able to jump from 200-400-600 and make hits on torso size plates quickly. It is a big optic when compared to the 4x ACOG.

My gun smith says that the acog is the best scope out there. To bad you have to give your first born to own one

There is more expensive glass out there.  Once you have shot with an ACOG though, the price seems like more of a bargain.

The 6x ACOG is very top heavy on a flat top.  A memeber at my gun club let me shoot his  ACOG 6x it was on a 16" Flat-top 556.  Keep in mind the 6x ACOG is 2.30lbs.  I would take a 3.5x or 4x ACOG any day over the 6x.
