How do you bore sight a scope with a quick detach scope mount? Turrets right?, So how come when I move the elevation turret it doesn't match up with the target looking through the ar's barrel? In fact the cross-hair doesn't move at all up or down with maxed out elevation in either direction. |

not sure if i'm reading this right, but you are saying that you are bore sighting your rifle and your elevation turret is not moving the cross hairs? what brand/model optic? Then I'd say it's time for that scope to take a trip back to the factory. |

Quoted: weaver tactical 3-15x I have a SS 10X that did something similar. I would adjust the turret with no apparent POI change. I saw that there were some set screws in the turrets, tightened them and it adjusted fine after that. I'm not too familiar with your optic, but from pics I googled, it doesn't look like there are set screws on your model. Have you taken it to the range to see if you can change POI with adjustment? Might have to start at 25yds to be on paper. |

I haven't taken it to the range yet But thanks for the info. Planning on going soon. Quoted: Quoted: weaver tactical 3-15x I have a SS 10X that did something similar. take it to the range. Bore sighting is no exact science.
If you're using the turrets correctly, either the reticule is moving relative to the bore, or the scope is busted. Either way sighting it in at the range will answer the question. Unless you're bolting the gun down securely in a vice, you're probably just having difficulty seeing the changes. I once had a millet reddot that completely failed and wouldn't adjust, so scopes can break, esp if you're cranking them past their adjustment range. Not saying you're doing this, but I've seen people turn the removable turret caps and think that they were adjusting the turrets. |
