Was shooting over the weekend and had an unexpected failure of a Midwest Industries flip up rear sight, the pivot pin backed out and the sight simply exploded into springs and pins. The sight may have failed but the customer service was excellent, called them on the phone told them the sight failed she asked my address and is sending me a replacement as I am typing this, no questions asked. Has anyone else had MI product problems or is this just one of those things that happens

Have never heard of this. But most of the users here, as far as I know, use troy,

I had a MI that done the same thing and customer service sent me the new model that had a set screw in the bottom to prevent it from doing that. MI customer service is excellent. I still use the MI flip up on my rifle, it is holding up well and I do not baby my rifle.

I have used MI sights for years with no issues three different rear sight styles and the HK style front flip. Had the a2 style rear come loose on a friends rifle when i loaned it out. Rifle was a little abused but i will chalk that up to user error. An yes MI customer service had allways been top notch.

Same sight, same issue, same results. I use Troy now.

Sounds like something that the company has issues with. Staking should solve the issue. Then again troy does not have this isse.
If you already have the replacment keep and eye on it or stake it.

I had a midwest gas block that was missing a hole for the gas tube roll pin.  MI's customer service was great. (so good CS, but average QC)

My front MI flip up sight did the same thing.  Pin slid out while shooting.  I have a Troy rear sight, and plan on replacing the front MI with a Troy soon.

For now, I dabbed a little bit of JB Weld on the very outer edge of the pin and slid the pin back in. (Don't get epoxy anywhere near where the sight pivots up)   Has held for thousands of rounds since.
