| Does anyone own one of these? what do you think of it? Im thinking of getting a acog and want a mini red dot for it should i buy this or just go with a docter or burris maybe a trijicon rmr and help would be great. |
| I currently have an MRDS on an ADM mount that I'm using as a stand alone optic. I also have the protective shroud installed since I like to play rough with my toys. I can think of 2 seperate occasions where I absolutely bashed my MRDS when getting into position to shoot through the slot on a plywood barricade to the point where the shroud, in one case lost some paint and in the other left a small 'ding'. The actual sight was none the worse for wear with no shift in zero or problems exhibited after. The top loading battery is also a major plus and I think it would be a great sight to mount on an ACOG my disclaimer being I have zero experience with the other minis you mentioned. |
| We've been testing the Insight MRDS for over a month now. We are running it on an ADM QD mount with the protective metal shroud. This thing is solid and works perfectly with the ADM QD base. We've removed it about 20 different times...prefect return to zero everytime. Its seen about 50% of its time on a Mossberg 930 SPX tactical shotgun and on my patrol carbine. We have shot approximately 400 rounds of 12 gauge slugs, 00 buck, and plenty of .223 with zero issues! I love the fact that the Insight MRDS, metal shroud, and ADM QD base weighed in a 3 oz!!! Super light and very rugged! |

The burriss and the doctor are nice, but they are not built for abuse like the RMR and the Insight MRDS.
I have the burriss FFII on my Ruger .22LR pistol, but would not use it on an AR. It is high quality and tough, don't get me wrong, but the RMR and the insight are much more rugged. The RMR is also designed to be always on with either fiber optic or illumination. Makes much more sense on a rifle where you don't want to futz with the little "on" button on the fast fire when you need it.
