Even though I’ve been shooting for many years, I just bought my first AR 15 from a Cowboy Action shooter buddy.  It is a Rock River M4 and has never been fired.  I heard of a gun shop about 5 miles from my home that specializes in AR’s; so, I decided to pay them a visit to pick up an extra magazine.  The owner of this one-man operation asked me if I brought the rifle with me, which I had.  He proceed to show me how to field strip and clean and lube the gun as he did all of this on my firearm!  Even though I left the place lighter in the wallet by $150, I needed everything I bought and knew why by the time I left.  In these days of markets dominated by big box retailers, it’s great to experience the old style of service – I’ll be back!
Now for my question.  While I was there, I looked through an Eotech holographic sight.  WOW!  But I like the iron dual peep sights that are on the rifle.  The rear sight is located on a short handle installed on the Weaver mounts of the “flat top”.  Can a Eotech be installed on the handle, which also has Weaver mounts on top, and allow the use of the iron sights as well as the Eotech?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.  Joe.

Yes, but you will have to deal with how far the center of the sight is from the center the bore. Closer is always better.

A lot of people will Battle Sight zero an Eotech. If you are right on the flat top and sight it at 50 yards, you will never be more than about 2" high or low from 50yds to about 200 meters.  The farther you offset the sight, the more this trajectory goes out of whack.

google eotech battle sight and you will find a lot of info.

You just need an Eotech carry handle mount.  Like this..

Welcome to AR's!  It sounds like you have a detachable cary handle.  If you like the stock A2 sight on the carry handle, consider getting a RRA Dominator EoTech mount  or RRA stand alone rear sight assembly.  See here  I think this set up will be more streamlined for your situation than the mount above for rifles without the detachable carry handle.

Did a quick search an there is a Dominator for sale in the EE here.

P.S. I hope you got more than one mag for $150 from the helpful shop you described.
