I aready own a 556. Is ther andatage over the exps3. i have read the trends toward the exps. Are the advantage of the exps over 556 worth the close to over $100 priced tag. Any satisfied 556 users out there?
Thanks in the advanced. |

First of all, I can find the EXPS3 for the same price or lower than I can find the 556's, so I'm not sure where you are doing your shopping, but the EXPS is comparable or cheaper in price.
Second, I'd say the EXPS3 is better by MY standards because it is lighter, takes up less rail space, uses 1 battery, and mounts the battery in transverse to the recoil of the gun. I'd pick the EXPS3 all day long over the 556. Just my .02 cents, though. |

Two good previous points. If I were in the market the EXPS would win for sure. But if you already own a 556 I guess I'm not really seeing the point unless you're considering a second optic for another purpose, for a different rifle, or if money is just burning a hole in your pants. |

I've got a 552 that I'm thinking of adding a G23 magnifier to. Will it work with the 552 or do I need a model with a 7mm raised base like the 557 or EXPS?
I can always use the 552 on something else if needed, but I'd rather not spend the extra money if I don't have to. |

Thanks for the replies. Basically I just got this and is unfired the shop may be will to exchange it for the EXPS 3, and wanted to know if it worth it. I wanted the decision based on first hand accounts. I am comining from aimpoint and wanted to try other options. So it boils down to battery length (1100 hrs vs 600hrs), weight. I have not heard to many issues with the 556 in ther field unless if you know otherwise.
Thanks Drew |
| Both the 556 and EXPS3 are great optics with a great track record! You're good to go with either one. In reference to the question about the EOTech 3x magnifier working with another EOTech with or without a raised base. It will not matter. The EOTech 3x magnifier will come with a riser that is removeable. So if you want an absolute co-witness or a lower 1/3 will work! |
