| Is the SWFA 10x42HD the best is class for a $800 scope? I am asking because I am looking for a 10x scope and $800 is the budget. Scope experts dime in and let me know your thoughts. 10x is all I need for my shooting skills. Fixed power or variable are fine. |

I was in the same decision making dilemma about a month or so ago and did alot of research. If you are wanting 10x and do not mind a variable I would highly suggest the Trijicon Accupoint in 2.5-10x 56mm objective. The objective may be a little bit bigger than you want, but allows for awesome light gathering ability. It is also available in Mil-Dot reticle and is simple to find in either green or amber dot. The illumination source is always present but never over-bearing. Mine is sitting upon a Savage 10 FCP Choate Tactical .308 and I thoroughly enjoy it, and it came in around the 800 dollar mark. Hope this helps.

| The 10X SS HD model is the only one of their modles I don't own. I do have the SS 1-4 HD and two of the SS 3-9X42 scopes and they are a great value. The HD glass IMO is the best on the market at that price point. The mildot coupled with mil adjustments make it easy to work with because what you see is what you adjust. No math involved. The 3-9X42 would be worth considering and it would save you the price of a good mount. It has a great warranty and since SWFA is both the manufacture and retailer if you have problems down the road you don't get shuffled around. They have a great reputation for customer service. My oldest scope is nine years old and I've never had a problem with any of the four SS scopes I own. |
