I am nearing the completion of my first AR and my first build.  I decided to keep my front gas block sight and go with a DD RIS II and want to put a fixed Troy BUIS on the rear.  My question is, can I mount a fixed sight without it interfering with my PA micro red dot?  Is there a certain mount I can get or should use for this to work best?  Or should I just go with a folding sight?

Is your PA micro dot on a high mount?

It'll all work out. I actually prefer fixed sights with 1x optics.

That was my question.  If it works with a riser I'll just order one from PA.  I got the newer micro with the detachable base and kill flash and can't wait to try it out!  I just feel that fixed sights are more reliable, all things being equal.

You'll want a mount with a lower 1/3 cowitness. Your sight picture would look like this:

In my experience, the PA 1/3rd mount offers a very low 1/3rd sight picture through irons. The way mine is set up, when looking through my rear MBUS apeture, I'm not getting a full sight picture through the microdot body. It's tough to explain without a photo. I can still center my front sight post in the rear apeture, but I'm seeing a lot of the scope body.
I wouldn't want a fixed rear sight obscuring my sight picture like that all the time. YMMV –– It's fine with a real Aimpoint micro in a "real" lower 1/3rd mount.
