I just got a new Colt 6920 upper and I am told it has a Matech rear sight.

The sight came folded down.  I know this sounds dumb, but I tried to lift it up and it doesn't want to come up.

Is the a catch somewhere, or do I just need to pull harder?

Just pull, they can be tight. This is also the drawback to this sight, it will wear out over time with use.

Yeap. Just yank that bad boy up. Have one on my 6940. I do like it... been using irons on it for over a year and its like it was when new. Can't imagine it would wear out without a lot of use...

As mentioned just pull up on the aperture to deploy it.
But that's the drawback of the sight...
As the little notch wears out it will no longer stay down on its own and flip up every time the rifle is fired.

If the sight keeps popping up, look down from the top, and will you most likely notice that the little hinge pin has moved slightly out to the right. Push it back over so that both sides are flush, and it will stay down.
