| Waiting on an Armalite Super SASS and still can't decide on an optic. My old setup had a 4x32 ACOG but I didn't do much long range shooting with it. I was looking at Trijicon AccoPoints, specifically the 5-20x50's. I found a great deal on the green triangle reticle and I've been leaning towards it. But I've never used anything that didn't have a crosshair of some sort. Any other optics I should be looking at that have an illuminated reticle with at least 15x magnification? Budget is 1200-1300. I'll be shooting anywhere from 100 to 600 yards. Anyone have any comments on the triangle reticles that Trijicon uses? |
| The PSTs got some hate at first, but the company made all good and I hadn't seen any unhappy customers lately. How about a Leupold Mark 4 or a Nightforce? Nightforce is king around here, and the resale value is unmatched should you want to sell it. They would be at the upper limit of your budget though. |
| I have a SASS also with a 4-16 PST FFP Mrad scope on it. I was one of the very first to get one (3rd from SWFA I think) and though the turrets are a little too easy to turn on mine(fixed on the latest ones) I have no complaints about it. That said I also have a 2.5-10x32 and a 5.5-22x56 NXS. The Vortex is an excellent buy but even in my non experienced eyes the glass quality does not stand up to Nightforce but that is to be expected. |

I am waiting on a Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP scope... And my big reason for ordering this scope was because of comments like that: "Its not as good of glass as a nightforce."... That's saying something! We're talking about $1000 scope versus a $2500 scope... And to top it off, Vortex's warranty is outstanding, and recently "tested" by a thread in this forum about running it over with his ATV, and they were still willing to fix it for him. |
