512, revision F (I think) purchased 3 years ago. 5,000 + rounds on the optic. Recently, I had the disappearing reticle issue. Reticle would vanish at the corners at the windows. L3 repaired it out of warranty, free of charge. I got the optic back within a week. Excellent customer service in my book. After that, I had a pair of batteries start to leak. I switched to E2 lithium batteries and haven't run into any issues yet.
Even considering the issues, I love the optic. I also have backup irons just in case. |
| XPS2-0, Manufacture date - 2010, range use on LR308. I had very light windage adjustment clicks and was difficult to tell how much I was adjusting. I sent it in and got it back within a week. Everything is perfect now. 1K rounds through it. |

1x552 rev D Manu Date 2001 -Issued, Combat x1 Tour OEF, top shroud was damaged in fall (I almost went over the edge of a cliff one night), caused some breakage at top of the hud glass. Optic still held zero and I continued to use it until I got the pre L3 552 rev F below. Had the blister buttons and they were a PIA to use.
1x552 rev F Manu Date 2004/5, pre L3 - No Issues Combat x 2 Tours OIF. Mounted on LT110 1x553 Manu Date 2008 - No Issues, however did the manufacturer suggested battery compartment Mod prior to use. Mounted on primary use SBR approx 4k rounds ATT 2x552 rev F unk manufacture date (Company Issued) but post L3 - No Issues |
| 512 rev F. purchased used on 9/09. My issue is that even with brand new batteries, the reticule blinks as if the batteries are getting low. I only use lithium batteries now but even in the manual it says that new lithium batteries will blink the reticule indicating low battery. |

When I first got it about six years ago it would drain the battery. I was told to take the batteries out and leave them out to let the unit "reset". After that I've never had a battery drain issue. Additionally, the "increase brightness" switch became very hard to activate. I have to really mash it down to function. |

I have a 551 Rev F bought in 2006, battery springs wore out on the battery box and I experienced battery drain. L3 sent my a new battery box. Still eats N batteries sits in the safe as a spare optic. |

Eotech 512 not sure if Rev F bought in 2007
Fired maybe 500 rounds with it on the rifle and a few weeks ago the reticle became very dim. It was hard to see in daylight. Eotech repaired it for free out of warranty. They have great customer service but I'm not sure how much that's worth. |

I wouldnt let urs detere you from their new offerings |

512 manufactured in 2005: Battery contact in the compartment came off. Contacted EOTech and they sent me a repair kit. |

551 Rev. F bought in 2004. Only issue is if batteries are left in unit they will drain slowly. But, this may be just my loosing track of how long they are in the unit.
Other than that it is a fine sight, can be removed and reinstalled without loss of zero. |

512 REV F bought it late 2006 or early 2007 (For the BUSHY 14.5 SEBR) No issues, when I sold it a couple years later.

Had past issues with battery contacts but the new bumpers fixed it. Currently having issues where the brightness isn't high enough in the daylight no matter new batteries or not. |

Owned a 511 back in 08. Worked fine, then the batterys started to drain, returned to eotech and was fixed.
Owned a 557 with no issues, Own an xps and a 553 which is one of my favorite models, I bought the 553 used and also had a problem with the battery cap, looked on the back and it was a 2006 or 2007 model. I ordered a replacement hood and the problem which was minor was fixed. I got one of those bushnells eotechs for my smith mp15-22 and its been running like a champ since 2010. |

Eventually I ordered the "Pre-2009" repair kit from Brownells and now it's back to it's normal self. I did temporarily put the spring back in with the new batteries and shot it that way until I found the repair kit.  It worked fine, even with the messed up spring.
I also forgot to mention I had a 2nd 512 Rev F that I bought in 2007 and sold to friend who put it on her FN PS90. I never had a problem with it, and she hasn't either so far. |

512 purchased in 2004. No problems with about 10k rounds under it. It is sitting on my brother's HD rifle.
552 Rev F purchased in 2005. I noticed that the glass was delaminating a few months ago. No electrical issues and it was still useable. Would recommend: Yes but with caveat---replace batteries monthly. *I have switched over to Aimpoints for the battery life. I had to use my HD rifle (stray dog in the chicken coop) and the batteries were dead when I needed it. |

I've owned an XPS2-0 and EXPS3-0 and both have performed flawlessly for the past 2 years.
That said, the buttons on the EXPS are designed for a 5 yr old. It is comical trying to turn off the sight (you have to press both buttons at once) due to: - Buttons being deeply recessed inside the protective metal sight hood. - The buttons are very small - The buttons are extremely close together (good luck getting two man-sized fingers on one hand inside the extremely small button openings and deep inside enough to physically manipulate the buttons). - Turn of using gloved hands? LOL..Not gonna happen. How in the world can a company that makes optics used for war not identify this as a major issue? I mean all they would have to do is space the buttons further apart, make the rubber nubs on the buttons protrude about .5mm and it would be near perfect. I still love these sights though. They are much "crisper" that any of the Aimpoints (Pro, T-1) that I own. The sight window is also phenomenal. |

I had an EOTech 552 that I purchased in 2004 or 2005. It was mounted on my Benelli M4 11703 until 2008. At that point, the optic had suffered through approximately 9000 rounds of 12 gauge. Probably 80% of which was low dram loads. By the end, the optic was so distorted and fuzzy that I removed it from the weapon. I contacted EOTech about having it serviced. They accepted it and I returned it to them. When it returned, the optic was a little better, but still unacceptable in my opinion. So I removed it and sold it with a full disclosure of its issues. I ended up selling it for 350 dollars. Which isn't bad since I initially paid 400 for it brand new.
The issues were not my eyes. I have looked through many other EOTechs over the years without issue. Wear and tear on the optic caused its reticle to deteriorate. After removing the EOTech, I moved to an Aimpoint T1 4moa on a LaRue mount for the Benelli M4. Since then, I've put about 4,000 rounds through it, approximately 75% have been high dram loads. I have not encountered any issues with it besides battery life that "only" lasts about three years instead of the advertised five. |
