I'm dead set on Aimpoint for my next optic. I need something that is NV compatible, and due to budget, I'm hoping to buy one used. I've got it narrowed down to the Comp M2, and the Comp M3. From what I've researched, the Comp M2 has a 10,000 hr battery life, and the Comp M3 has a 50,000 hr battery life. From what I've seen on the EE, Comp M2's seem to be going for around 325 to 350 with QRP mounts, and the Comp M3's are going for 475-500 roughly. My question is practically speaking, is the extra battery life really worth the extra $150? I'm still in school so I am on a budget, but this will be going towards a duty rifle for when I finish up school. Is there any quality difference between the two? And should I truly expect 10,000 hrs out of an M2?
My second question: I'm going to be using this on a BCM 16" midlength with a fixed fsb. I am wanting a lower 1/3 co-witness. Will a QRP mount with a spacer give me the lower 1/3 co-witness? If not, what mount should I look in to? Thanks |

Check out SKD they have a deal right now Aimpoint M2 and a Larue LT-150 mount for $499. Heck of a deal (I ordered one)

Thanks for the input guys! If anyone has any info on my question about the QRP with the spacer, don't be bashful! I'm sure looking for some info quick! Thanks! Im not 100% sure, but i THINK the M2 with a QRP WITH the spacer will do absolute co-witness. Again, not 100% sure. |

I'd reconsider the lower 1/3 co-witness with absolute co witness, unless you're considering a magnifier too.
For absolute cowitness setup when you train, whether you use irons or the Aimpoint, your cheek weld remains the same. I was worried with a fixed FSB it would be in the way and bother me. Not so, found it works well. |

The FSB has never got in my way when shooting Eotechs/Aimpoints center cowitt I guess we are the FEW OP M2 has killer battery life even the older Aimpoint XD |

If you can, you should wait until after SHOT. Google "Aimpoint patrol pro". So what's the difference and this and say an ML3? Doesn't the ML3 have a battery life of something like 5 years? I just read an article this morning. The link is in the Magpul/ Travis Haley thread in GD. The batteries are something weird, but they last for three years. |

I am also going to be buying an Aimpoint, but I'm set of the Comp M4. What are y'alls thoughts on the regular vs. "S" Model (lower profile). Lets be honest, I'm going for looks, anyone have a opinion on which looks better on an AR? Don't go for looks or you might get disappointed. I got the regular M4 (high), I read it is a little easier to turn on since the knob is on the battery tube. Especially since it's on the right side, so the lower is much more difficult to turn on for a righty and not change your grip on the weapon. I also own a CompM, and that's also what I'm used to. |
