I got my Eotech 512 in today and a dude at the gun store told me that they had problems, such as blinking out under recoil. Is this true? and if so,

Should I be worried about it? I'm not a LEO or anything like that, just a gun nut. Thanks

You'll be fine.

There was a issue like that on some older Eotechs dated early like 04-05. And Eotech came out with a fix & then incorporated that fix into all new models.  If yours is new or a few years old it's fine.

My department issues the 512 (AA batteries) and we have had no problems.

On my personal AR 15 I run a m68.  It is great for the intermiate distances.  The dept. uses Eotech 512's for our entry guns.  Several hundred warrants with the Eotech, works great for our purposes.  The reticle will start to blink if the batteries start to fade(visual warning).  Just need to be carefull changing the batteries during the winter.  The rubber discs, containing the metal contact springs inside the bottem of the Eotech can stick to the bottem of the batteries and be thrown away.

I've had my Eotech 552 for about a year have had no issues whatsoever.

You probably already know this but most gunshop dudes are not very knowledgeable about the things they sell and even less so about items they don't carry.

TNP357,

Amazing avatar, TPB is one hell of a show. Don't know how I found this one, but by far one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.

Just saw at the Lisner Theatre a couple days ago for their tour, hilarious.

It  was my first patrol optic and it never lost zero over thousands of rounds!  I've used several others but I've stuck with EOTech's for a reason.  They work and they're reliable!
