have about $300 to buy with. would prefer something with magnification, not red dot. would like a compact scope, not hunting scope style.
ive already read about NCStar's and was not impressed so is there anything else that even exist that doesnt cost more than my rifle?!?

i feel thats like people putting rims on their car that is more expensive than the car itself

How much magnification are you looking for?

For a 1-4x I would look at the Millett DMS-1.  Primary Arms has them for $199.  For something more powerful I would also check out the Primary Arms line of scopes.  Very good value for the price.

What about the new Nikon M-223 1-4x with the BDC reticle that is on sale at Midway?  I have shot the one with the point blank reticle.  It is a nice scope and true one power.

I am saving the pennies for one of these:

Redfield Revolution 2-7x33 w/Accu Range

Leupold took them over. The price is right, they are made in the US, it has a long eye relief, and I have been reading tons of reviews on it for the past couple of weeks. Seems they are being well received. Check out the Redfield website. They have other scopes on there, plus a simulator that shows what different animals look like through their scopes at different yardage...

My Leatherwood CMR just kicks the crap out of my Millett DMS. It has more function, is smaller, lighter, and the clarity is outstanding. The only downside is a small eyebox, which a good stock/cheek weld can greatly help with.

+1!  I bought one about three months ago.  I like it a lot.  Really nice glass, just a great scope for not a lot of money.
