This question is for those that accually own these optics. With all things considered with the quality of these scopes, do you think that these scopes are considered to be battle ready? Why? or Why not? Keep in mind that I know that there are already more expensive battle proven scopes in the market. |

I have taken mine hunting in about all conditions and they have never let me down. I think if I was really going into battle I would sell my 2 SS scopes and buy a Acog, but it would not surprise me if the Super Sniper performed well in battle conditions. |

Why? or Why not? Keep in mind that I know that there are already more expensive battle proven scopes in the market. The SS 3-9X42 and 10X HD were designed with feedback from men in Iraq and Afganistan. Both scopes are over there. I have no personal experiane in combat with these scopes but you might want to read the links below. I do own two of the SS 3-9X42 scopes and have a combined round count of 3000 rounds with no porblems on a LMT MWS and M1A NM. I shoot steel out to 800 yards and the scopes are clear and the adjustments are repeatable and accurate. I wrote the bottom review so I have experiance with the orignal Super Sniper 10X, the SS 3-9X42 and the SS 1-4 HD. The newer scopes are not called Super Snipers rather SWFA SS XXXXX. Comparing the orignal Super Sniper to the new scopes is like comparing a Leupold VXII with a Mk4. Personnally I can't think of a scope that costs under $1,300.00 that I would rather have on a 7.62 DMR. If my Son were still getting shot at in Iraq I would send him the SS 1-4 HD to replace the Aimpoint he had on his M4. Hope this helps. http://www.opticstalk.com/swfa-ss-39x42-review-by-mike-miller_topic23715.html http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1843898&page=1 http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2245510&page=1 |

Thanks for your input. |

Thanks for your input. Just to make sure you understand the HD series are much higher quality than the orignal series. The orignal series has the fixed; 6X, 10X, 16X and 20X. I'm not bashing the orignal series. I bought a 10X eight years ago for my Remington PSS until I could afford something better. Well it is still on the Remington because I could not find a reason to replace it. I don't have my log book handy but I'm sure it has been used between 3,500 and 4000 rounds with no problem. I just wanted to make sure you understand the differance. |

Shooting out to 700-800 yards in low light is something that I most likely will not do. So a HD is great, but not necessary for me. |

i didn't go to the SH links, but i'm sure one of them is of a test that was done by a guy on there at a DM course. apparently a soldier had a broken scope and he let the kid use a 3-9x SS for the remainder of the course. the scope held up fine and there were a bunch of other scopes that broke during the course.
i've got a 3-9x SS on my savage 10 and it's worked out quite well out to 600yds (farthest i've shot it so far). i did a test where i fired one shot on target from 100-600 yds as fast as i could put the dope on and every shot from 100-500 was on a head shot size target. the 600yd target i was off windage wise but got on target quickly by measuring how far i was off in mils and adding that to my windage. it makes for very fast follow up shots. my next precision rig i plan to buy a NF, but the SS will stay on my .308. i don't see any need to change it out. |

So far its seems that the Super Sniper is the best bang for the buck.. Night Force scopes are great, but out of my price range. |
