My son got me one for Christmas, and was just wondering about them. I didn't realize it was a $200+ red-dot, I'm wondering about the quality of it. The dot size is adjustable from 1 to 10 minutes, and appears nice and bright. I've got an RRA midlength with the removable tactical carry-handle sight, I removed that and mounted the scope on the rail, and the dot ends up very close to sitting right on top of the front sight post when I get my normal cheek weld. Not sure if there is any intent there or not? This is the first red-dot I've owned, so any advise is appreciated.
Here is a link to the scope. |

I have one with a catch. It's a Millett Zoom Dot and it's one of the made in America models so it was over $300. They produced them for a while in the states and then realized that they couldn't compete with Aimpoints and started making them more cheaply in China before finally selling the design to Bushnell who now produces them in China. Mine has been 100%. Battery life is okay, but I keep about 5 xtras stashed in various places in my AR including the mount.
I have a tip for you that will save you a battery or two. Always keep it off in the car because the lids have a way of popping open from the vibration and turning the dot on. |

I have the Millett version which was already pointed out, was assembled in the USA.
Millett tried to compare it to and market it against the Aimpoint M2. They failed. The Aimpoint is superior. However, the Zoom Dot isn't a bad optic. I would agree to turning it off when not in use. Battery life is ok, but not the 10,000 hrs they claim. Blueish tint is noticable. Never had it wash out, adjustable dot size is nice and works as a suppliement to the automatic brightness adjustment. Very good optic, don't know what the QC is like now that it's Bushnell. |

Thanks for the replies. The only thing I've noticed is that when I look through it with my head offset to the right a little bit, there is a pinkish hue that becomes visible along the left side of the sight. When I have my head offset to the left, it doesn't show. Eye relief doesn't effect this, it is there if I'm up close on it or I'm back away from it. Is this normal?
ETA: The pink hue is noticeable when I'm in a darker area (interior hallway or basement), I don't notice it in the daylight. |

I have a MIllett version.
I took it overseas with me and other than not working well with NV it held up very well. The battery life was around 1300 hours in a well lit area. Personally I like it better than an AImpoint and Eotech because you don't have to adjust the dot intensity when changing lighting conditions like going inside to outside. Dolomite |
