I conducted a search in this forum using "aim" as the search word and got zero hits.  I've also looked around on the web as well.  I've been a lurker on the ar15 forum for about a year just reading and learning about the platform. Although I'm new to the AR platform, I grew up shooting rifles, shotguns, and some pistol.  I just recently bought a Spike's AR with Troy Industries BUIS.  The M4 style sights.  I'm having an issue figuring out the correct placement of the front sight relative to the rear for proper aiming.  Where is the front sight supposed to be placed within the rear sight circle?  Should the base of the "wings" on the front sight be at the bottom of the rear sight circle, the top of the wings touching the top of the circle, etc.?  I've thought about just zeroing it using my own reference point, but I don't know whether that's a good idea or not.

The top of the front sight post should be centered in the rear aperture.

You might want to get some inexpensive, excellent training with the folks at the Appleseed Project.

Correct. Ignore the wings completely.

My understanding is that the role of the "wings" are only meant to protect the post from getting knocked around.
