Do y'all bother to lap/hone larue mounts reguardless of their amazing reputation?

Only ask as I plan on getting one of their mounts for a millet scope and was wondering if it's worth my effort in machining a mandrel...I was always under the impression that you always do this but I've never seen anyone here ever mention themselves doing it.

LaRue says do NOT lap their rings.

We exclusively used Larue mounts on ALL of our weapons (sniper systems and M4s) in my former unit and NEVER lapped the rings, as Larue states.

Sweet!  I haven't actually been on the larue site (guess I should have checked) only looked at them on bcm....

Thanks y'all!

It is my never to be humble opinion that lapping rings is a hold over from when rings were really not particularly well constructed and so tended to be significantly out of spec and in need of correction. Quality rings of current construction such as the Larue mounts are very precisely milled and do not need to be lapped. If you desire to lap rings buy some cheap ones as they will surely need it.

I was actually going to post this same question today as I ordered my  LaRue Tactical SPR-S Mount LT-158 yesterday for my .308 AR.

Thanks.
