I finally got around to putting some iron sights (Troy's) on one of my AR's and I had to bring the front sight up quite a bit it seems to me does this look too high.

That appears pretty high...Does the detent even reach the notches?
Take the post out of the factory sight and see if that will sit in the Troy housing better.

I had bought a replacement pin from arconversions .com ... my new sight sits deeper than the factory....but I liked the narrower post with the fine bead over the coarse post that cam with my rifle. They have quite a few different posts ~ $10-$20...
