Hello.
Any suggestions for a flip to side mount that doesn't cost $150? While I realize LaRue mounts are top of the line, I don't feel like spending $150 on just a mount. Any suggestions on where I might find a flip-to-side mount for a 3 or 5x magnifier? Thanks guys. |

Not trying to be a dick, but why do you want a flip-to-the-side mount? In a practical matter, a flip mount just adds weight to gun when you don't need it. If you need to engage a target/threat with a magnifier, it is probably outside of 200 yards. At that point, you have the time to snap an Aimpoint 3X magnifier onto the gun using the Aimpoint Twist Mount. That way, you don't need to carry the extra weight on your gun all the time because most of the time, you don't need it. When it is flipped to the side, it hangs out there, catches on stuff, etc. I've personally seen a guy go through the door of a corner-fed room in a training exercise, catch his flip mounted magnifier on the door frame, pivoting him around where he muzzle-swept the guy who went in at position one, and flung himself onto his ass in the middle of the room.
I used to have a flip mount myself and it got caught on all sorts of stuff- gear, dismounting from vehicles, etc. Just some food for thought. |
