Looking for opinions on what red dot to put on an offset mount: Aimpoint H1, RMR or something entirely different.  I don't kick in doors but I'd like it to last and not have to worry if I drop it, it won't work.  It will go on this AR.  Thanks

There have been 3 or 4 threads on this in the past 10 days I'd bet. Try searching.

I would use a LaRue or Daniel Defense offset 1 o'clock mount and an Aimpoint H-1.  The H-1 is less expensive than the T-1 by about $55-70 depending on where you buy it.  The only real difference is the H-1 is not night vision capable, and can only be submerged to around 50 feet under water.

If you buy the mount and optic from LaRue as a combo, you save a good bit of money.   If you prefer the DD mount, then get your Aimpoint from manventure outpost, or do a google shopping search for Aimpoint H-1 and sort by lowest price.  They change weekly depending on who is on sale.

I have a Burris Fastfire mounted on a DD 1 0'clock mount and it works great on my scoped 20" rifle

truckcop:  Who makes the mount for the RMR you have mounted?  Is it made by Trijicon?

I have a TA11F with an Aimpoint T1 on a Larue offset mount.  It is the absolute perfect system.  You have everything you need.  Close, far, low light ...

The ACOG is the primary.  For fast moving targets up close, it is simple to roll the rifle and pickup the T1.  In my opinion, it is better than a magnifier or a 1X-4X scope because the transition is quicker and simpler.  No knobs to fiddle with. Nothing to rotate in and out.

Just curious....shooting right or left handed?

Optic on which side of the rifle?

I'm right handed....and shooting an offset red dot on the right side is akin to doing a chamber check if you feel the bolt didn't reset fully for a reload or malfunction.

You may want to consider our MURLM that also has a built in QD light mount for left or righty shooters.  The beauty of the MURLM is it ONLY takes approx. 2 deg of cant to see the dot instead of turning the rifle almost sideways (45 deg) with the some of the current offset mounts.  This can be cumbersome and almost impossible while shooting prone. Hope this helps.
