Hi. I'm looking to replace my standard A-fram FSB with a flip-up FSB. I was considering to go with a railed gas block, but I don't want to deal with any clamp on FSBs or gas blocks as I've heard that they can come undone after firing so many rounds through your rifle. I'm looking at this tapered pin FSB flip-up:

GGG-1024 Tactical Modular Flip Up:   http://www.gggaz.com/index.php?id=39&parents=38,41

It seems to be the closest thing to the standard A-frame FSB looking at the location of the pins. My question is has anybody ever installed one of these themselves? GG&G notes that the price of the sight includes installation, but I was trying to avoid sending off my upper. I can install the standard FSB with no problem. I just need to know if the holes for the pins line up with the standard FSB. Worst case scenario, I'll just stick with the standard FSB, which really isn't a bad thing for me.

You are right to want to stick with a pinned gas block.
The KAC flip up gas block is held in place by taper pins is one of the best.
However, like a lot of KAC stuff it is 1) hard to find and 2) expensive.

I have one of these on one of my ARs.  It clamps on and it's the same weight as an A2 FSB

no,
the FSB is the only piece of the AR that can be swapped.

you'll have to sent the upper to someone that knows his job

I have installed one of the GGG pin on sights. There are no holes in it which is why GGG says they can install it.

I put mine on a new barrel so it was fairly easy.
Installing one on a barrel with the taper pin holes in it requires more work since I am guessing they have to get the sight mounted using the old holes. I don't think there is enough materiel to place new holes although they may be able to do it. I can't say for sure what they do.
