Want some feedback before I purchase. Here's a thread with tons of feedback, photos, and other links: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=496137&page=1 This is one of the links posted to a review by Lowlight on the Hide: http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1836490#Post1836490 We currently have the Elcan 1-4x (7.62) and the Elcan 1.5-6x (5.56) currently in-stock. Check out some of the info there and let me know if you have any other questions... Thanks, Mike @ CST |
| I have the 1-4 and it is awesome. I also have a NF 1-4 with an FC-2 reticle and I like the Elcan better. I personally think the glass is better. The field of view is awesome and the ill. is outstanding. You can either light up a dot or the entire reticle. The only thing I would change on it so far is the eye relief. For me, it is shorter than the NF. You really have to up on the Elcan vs. the NF. Not a huge issue at all but you may notice it. I like it so much I am considering getting another one actually. I have not used the Schmidt and Bender short dot yet but this is the best 1-4 or 1.5-6 scope I have tried. I had a Leupold and some lower end ones also. |

bought one a few weeks ago, absolutely love it. Amazing clarity, huge objective, great reticle. Have yet to zero it and actually run any drills with it but it is worth the hype and (probably) price. Glad you like it. Look forward to hearing your results... |

I picked up a slightly used Specter recently. Agree with everything posted above.
As far as the shift goes I'm not seeing it with my unit. After zeroing it at 4X - 100 yds I consistently put 10 rounds within the 9 ring (BC shoot n see's) at 4 X and then 10 rounds in the 8 ring at 1X. After shooting over 200 rounds at multiple targets I got the same results all day so if there was a pronounced shift I feel like I would have seen it. Shooting steel targets at 300 yards I found the BDC to be the most accurate of any of my other optics (TA31 and Valdada 1.5-8) with my 6.8 rifle as well. Excellent optic AFAIC. |
| This optic really intrigues me and continues to catch my eye while searching for an optic.I just wish there was a little more feedback out there. Most people who have tried one or actually own it seem to speak highly of them. Is there any alternative mount for the Elcan? |
|
A LaRue mount would help sales a lot IMO, I know I'd consider buying one if they had the LT mount, but not until they do.
I hear ya, LaRue Mounts are nice... FYI The ELCAN 1-4x have had issues in the past with ARMS mounts and a big part of it was None MIL Spec uppers and the other part of the issues was how ELCAN was installing them. We have not had anyone complain to me about the ARMS mounts giving them issues since the changes have been made. Mike @ CST |
| See my post at http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=496137&page=4 for latest on my 4X to 1x shift. Very slight but Elcan wanted me to send it in for evaluation. Great people to work with. |
