| Anyone have any experiences, good or bad, with the Bushnell Holosight? It looks to be an Eotech 512 without the metal shroud. |
|
I have 2. 1 is basically a 512 Eotech,(AA batteries) the other is a 511. The 512 ones area rare. Most are the 511's that take the N batteries.
1 is on an AK47, & the other is on a range AR. Both work great & haven't given me any problems. For the shroud you can not add it because the screw holes are not there. You would have to drill the sight for the holes. |
| I have 2 Holosights and like them very much. I also have a Eotech 512 and could discern no noticeable difference in the reticules of either optic. Battery life on the 512 is significantly higher. My understanding is that the Holosights use 1st generation technology, hence the higher power requirements. Having said that, the Holosight is a high-quality, cost-effective optic. Small rail footprint. Very light weight. |

They stopped making them. They pop up on Ebay or the here on the EE from time to time. Or you could get lucky & find a supplier that still has some stock. The last one I saw on the EE was a couple of months ago. Sat for 3 days and finally sold. Asking price was $180 shipped. One of the models they made the final time they upgraded them was for Remington shotguns. Here's a NOS one on GB: http://v2.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=172394724 |
| I picked up mine on off a local gun forum for $200 IIRC and I had it in my hands later that day. Not a bad deal IMO. I really like it. Been thinking about milling up a metal top cover to keep it protected, but I am not a huge fan of dropping my guns so I may not even bother. |
