I am considering an optic for an M700. It's a build based off the M24, and needs some high-quality glass. I'm looking for durability, low-light capability, and magnification capabilities up to 15x. NOT a fixed power, and this weapon will be used as a "sniper" rifle. It was a gift from a friend, and I figured "what the hell, may as well build a sniper".
Any suggestions? I'm not interested in dropping more than $1200 for the glass.
Thanks.

Nightforce.  Look for a used one.  You'd have to spend a lot more to get something that would be incrementally better.

I can't justify that amount of money!
Unless somebody knew a good source of used Nightforce optics...
Really, though. That is just such an expenditure for this weapon. I mean, the budget build M24-esque this will sit atop has cost me nearly $1500. With the LaRue mount, that's $1700. Even with the handloads I'm making for this weapon, I'd be spending more on the scope alone.
Isn't there an optic a bit less pricey with similar performance?

Nikon Monarchs are really good.
Burris makes some great stuff as well..
