Need to remove them to install rubber cover, but having a hard time getting them off my ML3.  Don't want to damage them.  Any suggestions?

keep on tugging, they will eventually come off. Just be sure not to twist on the cap/spring too much.

I've heard other ppl recommend sliding a small screw driver or butter knife under the rubber to help break it free while pulling on it. I'm always scared it will chew up/scratch my tube.
