| I would like to set up my AR for a 50/200 meter zero but I would like to do the initial sighting in at 25 meters to get a more precise group. How far below point of aim should the point of impact be at 25 meters to get the first crossover at 50 meters? Thank you. |

There really is no 100% answer to this. It depends on the height of the sight/scope off the barrel and the velocity of the bullet. That said, I zeroed my rifle at 50 yards dead on. Went and put on paper at 200 yards and I was 2 inches high at 200. I then rezeroed it at 200, went back to 50 yards and was about 1/2 inch low at 50. The JBM Ballistics Calculator puts me at .1 high at 50 if I'm zeroed at 200 and -1.25 inches at 25. Either way, its always best to actually shoot your rifle at paper at your zero distance and other known distances to see whats actually happening. |
