What would be a good range to sight a red dot scope to on an AR-15 in 5.56 NATO? I was thinking maybe 25 to 50 yards. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

50 is most common. Your aim will be dead on again at like 200-225 yards depending on the round and barrel length.

Same as you battlesight an M-16. Check one of the Army manuals for M-16/M4 for details.
