I need a decent optic for my go-to AR-15.  ACOGs are sexy, but I don't want a magnified optic for this gun.  My local gun shop has an Trijicon RX-30 for ~$450, new in the box.  I've got a line on an RX-06 that's about five years old, for $250.  I know the RX-30 has a larger lens, but I don't know that I'd really benefit from it as I shoot with both eyes open anyhow.  Suggestions on either optic?

The RX30 is a significantly better optic IMO, plus 5 years newer Tritium.

This. The fiber optics are more efficient, the tritium is brighter and the huge 42mm objective makes the reticle very fast to pick up, especially when shooting from awkward positions w/sloppy cheekweld.

I've got the RX-06.  Get the RX-30.
