I've got an AR57 build that needs a good optic. The top rail is about 5" so there's not a lot of room there. I've currently got a Primary Arms Micro Gen 2 and 3x deluxe magnifier on there and there's 0 room for a BUIS. The other problem is that the PA Micro is kind of dim, even at max brigthness. Works ok when it's not so bright out, but when it's sunny it's hard for me to find the dot. As far as space goes, I'm ok with the lack of room since this is more of a range gun. If I have to remove the optics and put on a BUIS I don't have to worry about time.
Optics I'm considering - The pricey ones: Aimpoint Micro H-1 + existing PA 3x Aimpoint CompM4 (1x, no room for PA 3x) EOTech XPS2 + existing PA 3x Trijicon TA31H-G (4x) (I also own a Burris FastFire II that I could mount to this with the adapter) Middle: Burris AR-332 (3x) Nikon Monarch VSD (1x, takes up almost 4in of the available 5 so probably no PA 3x) Budget: Primary Arms Compact 4x scope Bushnell Trophy MP (1x, no room for PA 3x) Thoughts? Opinions? Other suggestions? I'd like to get something that won't get in the way of the top loading magazine on the AR57, but is also good enough to be used on a standard 5.56 upper. |

I use the el-cheepo RDS from Sig that came on a 556. Doesn't lose zero and it fits fine. One is on a ar57 and another on a ps90. Both work great for "free" rds that got bundled into the deal when I bought the rifles. I'm sure you can find one on ebay after someone upgraded to an aimpoint or eotech. Aimpoint and eotech would be such overkill for the application. |
