Hey guys, so I just got a Maetech BUIS and I noticed it has a bunch of oil all over it, I'd like to degrease and re-grease it so I tried to take it apart. I got the elevation knob off and lost the spring in the process. I forgot about the ball bearing and BOING! off into the ether it went, somehow I found the ball bearing from inside there, but the spring is lost. ANYWAY, I can get a new spring at ACE hardware, but my question is how does the windage and the rest of it come apart? Anyone take these apart maybe to duracoat or something? Is it a Tiny pin that's pushed through the windage knob that retains it or what? I promis to be more careful taking this section apart

I have one that came covered with a reddish-brown substance and all the white markings were brown.  First hose it down with Gun Scrubber and use a cotton swab to get all the grim off of the white markings.  It'll then dry in about 20 seconds and look dull and frosted.  Then hose it down with CLP.  Wipe away excess.  I like to use some compressed air to blow the excess off.  Voila.  It will take your Matech from dull to gorgeous in a few minutes flat.

Ah, that could work, at least for now. I really wanted to get in the moving parts and replace it with a grease. Also I was thinking of doing a duracoat job on this gun and I'd love to be able to take it apart and get all the parts.

Ok, so now I really went and screwed up. I got a spring that would work, but now while installing it again, I sent the ball bearing sailing across my basement.... it's prettymuch lost. Anyone know what company makes the sight and if they might be able to send me a replacement bearing and spring? Do I need to just find a new bearing from somewhere else?

This is about the most retarded thing I have heard in a while.

Yea, I know it wasn't very smart. My basement is notorious for swallowing small springloaded parts. I did the same thing a number of years ago while taking apart an Anschutz sight that was rusted stuck.

I did buy two of these, so it's not like i'm totally stuck... but yea, really sucks to have one that doesn't work...

well I'd like to think I've redeemed myself here. I tore the basement apart last night re-organizing stuff and I found the ball bearing :) and this time I was able to re-assemble the sight without it flying all over the place
