I have had a couple optic settups on my AR's. This particular P-415 beggan with an Eotech and later with an aimpoint. I liked both but just perfer the more traditional crosshairs .
I pondered over picking up an Acog but for my uses a $1000 optic just seemed alittle to much. I live in the path of alot of major hurricanes and have gone through weeks of no power and little food and know how dicy situations like that can become, So I cannot rule out a WROL/SHTF situation. Likely id be around a fixed point [my home] in these situations with trips to locations for supplies so weight was a consideration but not a huge one..im a young guy and can huff alot of gear..durability was a larger consideration.
Other then the possable SHTF/WROL in the future this rifle is settup for poping cans and targets along with a couple trips out in the feilds for tree rats and rabbit [alot of open, flat places around me] and anything that might come along.
After looking into a few different options i decided to go with the Weaver V3 1-3x20 scope and a Burris PEPR mount.
Picked both up a few days ago and mounted them on my rifle. I have to say.. Id take this settup over either of the red dots o have on before this.
The weight is minimal, Eye relief on the weaver is very nice and the glass is VERY clear.
I was alittle concerned on how high it would sit on this rifle but it turned out very nice.
The weaver did come to me with a small dent at the very front of the scope...i was concerned at first but everything functionally seems to check out and i have never been one to worry about consmetics. If it functions well as i suspect then as far as im concerned its nothing but getting that first ding/dent out of the way
I really dont have much use for the railed rings on the Burris and might pick up a few standard style rings in the future.
All there is to do now is take it up to the range and test it out
retical picture just wouldnt come out right lol i apologize.
I'll try again when i get to the range the week
