So the post insert (the part with the tritium) falls out of the post receiver which is still held in place on the sight. I check a similar sight on my carbine and it appears only a small silver lock ring slides over the post to hold it in place.
Anyone have this happen to them and did the manufacturer replace? After examining this is seems kind of a cheesy set-up. Seems like there should be a better way to manufacture this IMO. I didn't see this manufacturer in the Industry forum so I thought I'd ask here first. Never had problems with Trijicon before.

Call 'em up, tell 'em what happened. Worst case is you drop another $60 on a new one. Best case is they replace for free. Middle of the road is to put in your old sight post and deal with it. |

The link i provided plainly states they have a 12 yr warranty...... I assume that covers the trit falling out too. I figured he could find their contact info after going to the link i provided without me posting it too....... |

No, that's not what I'm saying. The steel post that holds the tritium capsule fell out. The post and it's tritium capsule are probably lost forever in my back pasture. The other piece that the post mates to is still properly seated in the Troy BUIS. The Trijicon post is of a two piece design that is held together by a small washer like slip-on device over the post. And yes, it's probably a poor design when the most important part of the sight falls off. Would you not agree? |

I know it sucks, but it happens from time to time. These are built by humans.... As I said, we will replace it under warranty. |

it just fell off? i could see that being the weak/breaking point if enough pressure was put on it, the 2-piece design is for rotating the post for 1/4 turn adjustments Yep, just fell off. How would one "put enough pressure on it"? The post is protected on either side by the metal portion of the BUIS. Other than the initial installation or to adjust the elevation the post would not even be touched. In my case the BUIS was not even being used as I was sighting in a optic. I understand the two piece design and how it's used. My point on the design is that perhaps there is a better way to make it considering the tritium capsule is a source of radiation controlled by the NRC (straight from Trijicon's warranty). Anyway, I spoke to the fine folks at Trijicon today and they seemed more than anxious to replace it under warranty. I probably just got the statistical failure which could happen to any of us. |
