How do you tell if an Aimpoint mount is authentic? I just purchased what was advertised as an Aimpoint carry-handle mount for the AR-15. You know the one, it puts the scope over the handguards and has only one picatinny slot at the end of the mount. The mount has absolutely no markings on it whatsoever. No part or model number, no "Aimpoint", nothing. It appears to be well made and finished and it fits very snug and locks up tight. It looks kosher, but I am surprised that it is not marked in any way. The item came from what I beleive to be a reputable supplier, but the mount was in thier own packaging, nothing that looked like factory Aimpoint packaging. As a side note, I tried to buy one of these from another online retailer only to be told after I placed the order that Aimpoint had reclassified this mount for shipment to military addresses only. Is this true? I emailed Aimpoint about this and have yet to receive a reply...

What do you think I have? Do the retailers buy these mounts in bulk, then package it themselves?
