With an Eotech/Aimpoint,how many yards out would these be ideal for?

That largely depends on the shooters skill. Ideally you should be able to hit what you can see with the naked eye. In most cases though I would say 250yrds and under.

i have used Aimpooints and EOTECH's effectively/consistently out to 450 meters on .mil grade M4's with .mil ammo.   some say they can go further (consistently and effectively) - i have not had the opportunity to try it (yet)

at the longer ranges i prefer the Aimpoint (>50 meters), and at very close ranges (<20 meters) i prefer the EOTECH.  (personal preference)

Do you wear glasses or contacts?

If so, its likely you'll have better results with holographic weapon sights at longer ranges verse 25-50 yards or less.

Many with corrected vision have difficulty seeing one red dot in close, they see an array of dots.
