Hey guys what kind of battery do I need for my aimpoint? Is it something that I can go down to radio shack and get or do I have to special order? thanks.

you need a CR 1/3N - it's a goofy looking little 3 volt battery - think of it as a watch battery on steroids. They are a little more difficult to find than common batteries but my local radioshack always has them in stock.

P.S - Aimpoint provides a battery with them if you are buying new.

Welcome.

P.S - since they are a little more difficult to come by than regular AA's - buy 3 or 4 at a time. Better yet- put the Aimpoint in a Larue mount and always have a spare right in the mount itself

+1 on the above, buy spares.  My local Fry's electronics store carries them, and probably places online for reasonable prices.

Brand name is subjective, just like other batteries...  For only $3 or so per battery, I buy the Energizer or Duracell name brands.  It's not like AA where you can go through many batteries in a short time, where the saving seems to make sense some times.

In an emergency, there are batteries at WalMart (watch or photo department) and other places that are the same diameter, but 1/2 the height and 1.5 volts.  Two of those stacked together will fit and power the sight.

They have them at radio shack but they are a over double the price most everyone else sells them for.

Not a big deal if you just want one to get you going but i'd stock up someplace else......
