Yeah, but this thread has a different twist....it has a complete PoS mixed in with an excellent optic and a mediocre one.

I have both an EoTech (516) and an Aimpoint (M4s), I like features of both of them and they both work well and I can pick up targets quickly. I like the Reticle on the EoTech better than the "Dot" on the Aimpoint, the EoTeck has a rectangular window and gives very good periferal vision, I tend to want to close my left eye when looking through the Aimpoint, (I've been able to over come this with use) I think it may be all those years shooting scoped Rifles and the round shape of the Aimpoint. The Aimpoint cost almost twice as much as the EoTech, The battery life of the Aimpoint is fantasticly long, I have the Aimpoint on my Primary M4 and the EoTech on my back-up M4.

I have never used a Red Dot sight in combat, my combat days ended 40 years ago, I have never fired a shot in anger with a Red Dot sight, but, I feel either the Aimpoint or EoTech will serve me well in the event of any future Hostilities I may become involved in.

I cannot recomend one over the other, I like them both.

Aimpoint.  There feel better. No proof needed and just like any other reply it is only opinion.  Get to a store and try some yourself.

What are some other different red dot optics that can be out on these pieces of art?

If you're looking for cheap, check out Vortex Strikeforce.  I don't have one, but it looks like a few do with favorable reviews.  They have a forum on the Industry page.

If it's your one go-to gun, general consensus is to save money and stick to something battle proven like Aimpoint or EOTech.

Aimpoint = High end $$, High end durability, bright glass, clear dot.

EOtech = Midline $$, to high end $$, Midline durability, newest EoTech = high end $$ ??? durability (not tested by enough people yet.) Holographic site, not a red dot via LED, so no comparison.

BSA = low end $$, little to no durability, blurry dot

C-More= mid to high end $$, mid to high end durability, bright glass, clearest dot on the market (IMHO), swappable MOA dots from 2moa to 16moa

Leatherwood = low to Mid $$, mid durability, bright glass, clear dot.

I have never used the Aimpoint clones, but think about it long and hard, there is a reason they cost more to ship then they do to sell. You can buy them on e-bay for $15 with $30 shipping.

+1.

I have EoTech 512 and the 511 models and the Aimpoint M3. Like them all, but I like the EoTech reticle better. I use the Aimpoint on my primary weapon, simply due to the long battery life. I do not want to pick up my weapon in a SHTF and have dead batteries. that is the only reason I have the Aimpoint, because I like the circle and dot of the EoTech better. But both are ver good.

A friend of mine just got a Strikeforce (at my suggestion) and he really likes it. I tried it for a few shots and I like it too, but I like quality optics better than the lower end ones for my guns.

I know that BSA is supposed to be a POS, but I have an RD30 thats been running omn my Saiga AK for 5 years and 10K rouunds without a hiccup, I'm on my 4th battery. Best $30 i ever spent. Did I just get a good one? I can easily keep it in the black at 100 yds, which is about all an AK can do.
