I just got my first aimpoint, it is a compC.  I got the package deal from SWFA and have a few questions regarding the aimpoints, keep in mind I have not handled an aimpoint in a year or more so I don't remember if it was like this or not.   First the brightness knob is wobbly, almost makes me wonder if it might just fall off.  Also the elevation adj is click style, what I am used to, but the windage dial is a friction type.  Is this normal or is there something amiss in my new aimpoint?  I don't mind the friction adj or the click adj but it seems weird to me that they use both on the same optic.  Am I just being alittle over concerned about the brightness knob and differing types of adjustment knobs?  I mainly shoot LR with bolt actions and I use Leupold, IOR, and NF; so I know good quality.  This seems strange that the highly regarded Aimpoint has a few flaws.  I am not trying to stir the shit pot but... I have one other carbine and it has a Eotech 512 on it.  It is 1.5 yrs old and is on its 2nd set of batteries (the originals lasted about a year, now it has Lithium power).   I have not had wondering zero or unable to rezero or unusual dead batteries.  When the batteries crapped out there was hardly any residue in the batt compartment.  I really like the aimpoint overall and find that this set-up works as good if not better then the 512, but am alittle worried about the flaws mentioned earlier.

Im not sure if the "friction" windage adjustment is right. My Old ML3, and my T1 Micro both have click adjustments, and im assuming yours should have too.

Also, the adjustment knob is an unfortunate weakness in the older variations of the Aimpoints.

The knob was attached directly to the variable rheostat (AKA brightness adjustment) and was prone to wobbling a little, or if hit on the knob, possibly damaging the rheostat.

I know my old ML3 has a pretty solid feeling brightness knob, and I know the newer ones are attached to the Aluminum housing rather than to the brightness adjuster.

I am going to say that the windage adjustments are not right though. It SHOULD be full click windage and elevation.

You got it from SWFA? I would shoot them and email and ask if it is right. They will have first hand experience with the CompC. If not, then send an email to Aimpoint and Im SURE they will be able to give you any info you need. Like I said, I dont think the "friction" adjustment is right.

If you look inside the windage adjustment compartment, and the elevation compartment, do they BOTH have a ridged inside wall? If they both do, then im guessing the spring detente on the windage is kaput.

Knob shake is normal and Aimpoint advises that some is needed so that the knob is not damaged by being bumped.  Like women, some shake more than others.  I have not had a CCO that had both friction and click adjustments; all mine are both click.
