I am not up on manufacturers or scopes.  I need a spotting scope to see my target.  I would like something with a variable zoom.  I want a crisp image.  I would like to be able to use it up to 300m if possible.  I only have access to 50y and 100y ranges right now.  Can you recommend me a spotting scope guys?

I am getting ready to purchase a KONUS 7120. They are supposed to be kickass spotting scopes for the $$ ($220/shipped). It's power is  20-60x with an 80m objective. Google it.

Please give us a range report when you get a chance .

Takes a pretty good scope to see .223 holes at 200 yards ?  300 yards , well ....

Thanks ,

Yes it does, even my Kowa wouldn't do 223 holes at 200 unless mirage was very low but obviously 30 cal.  was easier. I only had the 27x LER EP but maybe the variable would be better, never tried one on mine.

Kowa 821M is the only game in town at High Power Competition. It's extremely rare to see any other scope.

I have seen people field engineer a mount to use a high magnification rifle scope for a spotting scope .  For the $$$ , it seemed the rifle scope was cheaper for the performance you got , than a spotting scope .

Probably not easy to see if you had 22 year old eyes .

I am about as guilty as anyone of buying cheap glass .  A habit I am trying to break myself of .  My brother-in-law told me years ago to spend as much on the glass as for the steel .  Have not gotten there yet .
