Anybody have one of these? Can you tell me how they compare to the compML2? SWFA has a pretty good deal going on for them. I am looking for my first optic and trying to decide between:
Eotech XPS
Aimpoint CompML2
Aimpoint CompC3

It looks like the XPS should solve a lot of the Eotechs problems, but I know that the CompML2 is dead nutz reliable, and just dont really know anything about the CompC3

What's the Eotech 'problems'?

Many of us have several and have experienced zero issues. Am I missing something?

i have been reading a lot today, and have heard many 1st hand accounts of loose battery contacts from recoil causing dimming or even shutoff of the eotech units (one person even had a link to a military notice about the issue). I have also heard of a lot of battery drainage problems. The XPS unit places the battery sideways which seems like it would solve the problem.

I really like the sight picture of the eotech, but dont know if i have confidence in it after hearing all of these problems.

SWFA has a great package deal for the CompC3 w/rubber armor, flipups & mount for $399: http://swfa.com/Aimpoint-CompC3-Red-Dot-Sights-C8.aspx

I think that overall EOTech's offer a better sight picture than the Aimpoints but are not constructed as ruggedly as the Aimpoints.

CompC3 is simply a compact version of the M3.  It isn't nearly as submersible (sp?) but that's about the only drawback.
I've got a CompML2 on the way myself.  If I had the money I'd have ordered an Aimpoint Micro T-1 in a heartbeat though.

The C is OK, but the M2, ML2 is a better bet, especially used.

I am running a Comp c3 on mine with an American Defense mount and absolutely love it. No issues with the sight at all and being that I am not planning on scuba diving with the thing the submersibity of the sight was not an issue.  I say if it's waterproof to 10 feet it's GTG and the quality of the optics matched with the price is a win win situation. I do wish Aimpoint offered different reticles like Acog or even a ring dot combo like EO. The battery life plus  that would be an industry killer

How so?  Only difference between the C and M models are the depth you can submerge them to and the NVD compatibility.

The C3 is not a compact version, it shares the exact same dimensions and operating features, the only difference is how far it can be submerged in water compared to the ML3. You could take that to mean slightly inferior "build quality", but that's a stretch and there is no indication that C3s are any less durable out of water than the M/ML3s. It also does not come with some accessories like the rubber protective cover. IMO, it is the best quality red dot deal out there.

I have the C3 on a 16" carbine and am very happy with it, especially the battery life.

Actually, someone suggested that on another forum and Freddie Blish, Aimpoint's military liason, posted saying it's untrue.  That's right, a company rep came on the board and suggested the cheap option is the best one for most people in the market for a RDS.

I agree.  I had one, but I wanted a Micro very badly so I sold it.  I will only buy the H-1 Micro from now on, as the tremendous weight savings is worth the extra money to me

This is my understanding as well.   Will you go swimming with your Aimpoint and be using night vision devices?  If the answer is no, get the C3.  The C3 is water resistant and should hold up to rain just fine.  It's submersion that's the issue.

You can always buy a rubber cover if you want one.
