[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Fixed Post A2 Front Sight & Scopes = Problem

I've never put a scope on an AR before. I currently have a fixed Post A2 front sight on my ARs. It's a GTS operator barrel, and it appears that the barrel was specifically made to fit the A2 sight. Maybe not. Anyway, I'm hesitant to take off the front sight. If I slap a scope on, is that front sight going to be in the way, even if I mount a bit higher? Or will it just be a little blur (1-4X scope).

I just checked my carbine with the DMS-1 on a ADM Recon mount. I can see the front sight from 1x-2x. Even on 1x the front sight doesn't bother me. As you power up the ears of the front sight get wider and slowly move out of the picture by 2x.

What height is that mount? I am interested in this thread as I just bought a Burris XTR 1-4 and am now wondering what rings to get. I assume the 1 inch (High) rings for this very same question/reason? Please advise.
