| I just got a used TA01 acog and have it mounted to the flat top of my 16" stag. I read on Trijicon's website that the scope comes factory with the carry handle mount. How will the placement of the scope on the flat top instead of carry handle effect where the bullet hits according to the range marks in the scope? Thanks |

Another simple answer if you are mounting the scope to a flat-top rifle or carbine, barrel length does not matter.
Sight in the rifle at 100 meters, preferably with an M855 equivilent loading, Winchester Q load white box ammo is a good start. once completed adjust the Bullet Drop Compensator elevation wheel to the 100 meter setting. Top of reticle will be center of target, do not set using a six o'clock hold. The rifle and scope are now set and will effectively hit within an 11 inch spread of elevation out to six hundred meters with any load from 55 grain to 77 grain when adjusting the BDC to the desired range setting. If you can dope the wind for windage correction, you will be able to hit a human head size target to this range regardless of the load employed. If you want more precision than this allows, fire the load you intend to use to all the way out to the maximum range you have available starting with a 100 meter zero and adjusting the BDC turret to read this 100 meter zero and maintain a corrections for range sheet. The corrections for range sheet lists the number of clicks you need to get specifically point blank center of a target at whatever range is chosen. Store this sheet of helpful information in your pistol grip or buttstock storage compartment.HTH |

Thanks everyone. I was wondering about this too. Just got that Trijicon TA31RCO-M150CP from SGC for $910 today. Was waiting until they had 2 left and then pulled the "trigger".
I was trying to figure out if this will work with my 16" barrel. Looks like I make a good choice. |

Get a mount from Larue, they are the best, and zero at 25 yards using 300 meter reticle. All will be fine. What 300 meter reticle? There is a three hundred meter reticle on these things??? How come neither of my ACOGs came with a three hundred meter reticle? Do you mean sight in at 25 meters using the 300 meter stadia line? It is a whole lot easier to just zero the scope to at 100 meter range and then use the correct stadia line to range. The bullet drop compensator on these scope are etched stadia lines on the glass. Once the elevation turret is set to zero at 100 meters, You can then use the horizontal stadia lines to rough guage distance and then hold on target using the correct ranging stadia line. |
