I have a spare Simmons 1.5-5x32 ProDiamond Master Shotgun Scope (w/illuminated ret) that I plan on mounting on my M4-gry flat top. I will use this until I save enough for the Trijicon I plan on mounting. I have rings for the Simmons.
I was thinking of pruchasing the La Rue Tactical Picatinny Riser QD (LT-101), then mounting the scope on this. This will aslo give me a little extra space to clear the front post and the TROY BUIS I have installed. I will also use this with the Trijicon if it works out OK. Any body us the LT-101 for mounting a scope? does it give BUIS and front sight clearance? Is the "return to zero" adequate? |

This will work fine. The LT-101 is a great way of getting repeatable QR when you already have rings, plus it gives the option of extra forward offset, which you may need with a long eye relief shotgun scope, especially if you shoot anywhere near nose to charging handle.
For height, what most people want is for the scope centerline to be about the same height above the rail as the iron sights (1.4") or a little higher. If you get high enough to clear the front sights, it's too high for a good cheek weld for most people. So, you'll want to add your ring centerline height to the LT-101 height, and see if that'll work for you. Most people go for 1.4-1.6", but personal choices vary.
