Nice mount, looks good to me.  No levers and crap to break or adjust.   KISS

Have you broken a lever?  In my world I've stripped hundreds of screws and broken zero levers.

My ARMS lever broke when the rifle fell on a carpeted surface from less than 2ft.  The ARMS mount was on a Surefire light.

I have stripped screws too, not too many on weapon mounts though.  The slotted screws I believe are for folks in the field that may not have access to Allen wrenches.   I have a KAC RAS M4 that has slotted screws, this RAS came from an M4 shipped to a military unit, whereas all the RAS M4s I bought myself have Allen wrenches.  From what I was told, the military version is slightly different in color (it's flat black) and has different screws, for ease of finding something that would work on it.

Use the right sized driver and that wont happen.  Also when its tight, its tight, leave it alone.

Its about time we start seeing non-QD mounts.

I'm not just talking about on weapons, and I'd rather not have the screws unthread themselves without a sealant

Mine hasn't came loose, neither have my Troy sights. Just sayin..

Not just on weapons, just have generally bad experiences with non-tool-less devices that get any kind of a workover.

If a lever breaks, can you fix it with a penny?
If a slotted screw backs out, I can.

Neener, neener....

All in good jest. If levers are your bag, go for it.

there's self locking inserts that keep the screws from backing out on the mount

They also keep the threads from tearing out of the mount.

I agree.  Now I just need them to make one for the Aimpoint M4...hint, hint.

Very cool ... now where can I order these for building electronics?

Is there something special about these screws that would keep you from replacing them with black hex head screws?

For $28 bucks more...

Win

In this case $28 translates to an almost 50% higher price. The extra money gets you QD capability but some people may not need or even want that feature.

They are both good mounts with a different purpose.

We tried to take a different approach to our Micro Mount.  We wanted to offer a lightweight, snag free design for shooters that do not need or require a throw lever design.  The mount secures to your upper receiver with 2 slotted fasteners that are threaded into self locking stainless steel thread inserts that resist loosening due to vibration.  We went with the slotted version of the screws since most shooters don't carry around an allen wrench in there kit.  A Leather Man, Gerber too, or even a coin can be use to attach, and remove this mount.  It only weighs in at 1.7 ozs, so the total package is ultra lightweight.  And a retail of $70, it won't break the bank after you just spent $600 on an optic.

All very well thought out features which is exactly what I would expect from DD. Ever consider making an EOTech mount?

Good thought on the slotted screw...

I'm a throw lever guy, but this mount would work just fine....good to have choices...

Some stuff I want QDs on but this wouldnt be one of them.  I rather install it once and never worry about it again.  I love LaRue mounts but I cant blue loctite them in place.  This I can.   For a fighting rifle I'm a big fan of loctiting anything that could come off into place.

Thats just me though.  Now I need a T1

It'd be more cosmetically pleasing if they were coated black.  Really though, who gives a shit.
