I have a NJ compliant post-ban Bushmaster M4 A3.  Link: http://www.bushmaster.com/catalog_xm15_PCWA3X_14M4IZ.asp

This model comes with a permanently attached "Izzy" muzzle brake.  I'd like to change out the stock FSB for a gas block with a flip-up front sight.

My question: How do I remove the FSB and install the new gas block if the diameter of the permanently attached muzzle brake is larger than the barrel?

Have the brake removed, either by yourself or send it to a company like Adco.

If you use a two piece gas block flip up front sight like the YHM or similar, you don't have to remove your permanently attached muzzle brake, just cut your old FSB and install the new one.

For one piece gas block sight you have to remove your muzzle brake first in order to install your gas block front sight.

Take a look at the bottom of the page in this instructions thread on how to remove the FS/ muzzle brake, if it's too much work send it to ADCO Firearms or your local competent gunsmith.

Ended up going with ADCO.  My upper gets shipped out tomorrow.

Thanks for the responses.
